I finally had a chance to check out the Dame Dash interview and I liked it! I think Dame says some things that we (as a people) should pay close attention too. Even though I don't agree with every single thing he says, I do get the just of what he is saying,
We do need more bosses in our culture. And not just in Music. We need to own more things in every category. However, not everybody can be a boss. AND not everyone needs to be a boss. We also need people to play other roles. We ultimately need to work more as a unit and as a team. On that team, not everyone can play the boss position. But if we are working together as a unit and a people, we all can win! We can all help build empires that support, help, and cater, to our people. Since there aren't enough bosses, we are basically building everyone else's empire. Empires that other cultures and people benefit from, and don't have our best interest at heart.
There are steps to take to get to "boss-hood". Sometimes you have to have a job. You may have to have a boss before you become one. You have to find a way to get the money to invest in yourself or product.
I do think we need to promote being a boss and owning our own more in our culture. I believe we would be in better shape today if we owned more stuff. There is power in ownership. You control what you own. "I hustle for my last name, not my first" Dame says. I love this line. We need to think more about our next generations and not just about ourselves. Lets give our children more than money or a house. Lets give them a real life legacy.
We have to evolve. Don't just get a job. Don't just have a career. Be a Boss! Or work for one that looks like you and wants to help our people progress.
